Looooong Time Catch-Up!

Posted on October 9, 2016

I have all the best intentions in the world to keep my blog regularly updated and then things like real life get in the way….

If you’ve been following me on social media then you will know that during my foot surgery recovery my mum passed away after a very short battle with cancer. I’m not going to lie, its been a horrible time and I am very grateful for the support of my family and friends. I’ve received such heartfelt, beautiful messages and each one has meant so much to me. My sister also wrote about losing our mum, for The Huffington Post and this perfectly sums up how we are both feeling.

In all of this, I am very thankful that my mum knew about my big news and it was something we had celebrated together…..

MY FIRST RECIPE BOOK WILL BE PUBLISHED EARLY NEXT YEAR!!!

My mum had tried many recipes from the book and there was no one prouder of me! My book is something that I have been working on for a while and you can read about the true story of where I was when I found out I had got a book deal, here!

I have finished proof-reading and the book is on its way to the printers!! I can’t wait to show you the finished book!! A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to go along to my photography sessions

And I can tell you the styling, (thanks to the incredible team) is just gorgeous. There are pages you literally want to dive head first in to!

In other news, I was very excited to once again be a judge at the World Bread Awards. This year I was judging the Speciality Sweet category and it was so much fun and so delicious!! I got to hang out with my mate Luis Troyano and finally meet the gorgeous Martha Collison:

And my judging partner for the day was Fiona Sciolti, who kept me laughing the entire time – she is brilliant!

I am thankful that I once again wore something ‘roomy’ as I had to taste a lot of bread – there is a huge amount of bread making talent around!

It was also great to have a catch up drink with Charlotte White of Restoration Cake. We talked kitchens and cake – as you do!

A couple of weekends ago was Thame Food Festival and I had the honour of hosting Miranda Gore Browne, Will Torrent, Richard Burr, Nadiya Hussain, Benoit Blin, Richard Bertinet & Chetna Makan on the Baking Stage:

Every single baker was a delight to work with and it was a lot of fun to chat with them and try their fantastic bakes!

I also LOVED meeting Masterchef Winners Natalie Coleman and Jane Devonshire – two very fun and very talented ladies! And GBBO’s Bread King – Paul Jagger, who made a special guest appearance!

I can not wait for next year!!

This week is Chocolate Week and I am looking forward to attending The Chocolate Show Gala Evening for the fourth year running, and you can read about last year here. And as it is Chocolate Week, why not make my Triple Chocolate Fudgy Brownies – they are chocolate fudgy heaven and super easy to make! Oh and look out for a chocolate competition coming this Thursday…

Final bit of news for this mammoth catch up is that I have been booked to teach some classes at Divertimenti Cookery School! The first class is on 13th December where I will be teaching my Easy Homemade Christmas Presents Class. Booking info here!

I promise to try and be back sooner 🙂
