The Colour Purple

Posted on May 16, 2012

I’m confused.

I went into B&Q today, and I was all set on a grey shaker style kitchen with a butler sink. I imagined myself clad in a cath kidston apron, hair in rollers, baking fresh bread in my new range cooker whilst my children ran around barefoot and laughing…

However, I walked past the purple and cream high gloss kitchen and black sparkly quartz worktop and everything changed!! I fell in love! It is not what I thought I would want, but I DO want it!

So now I am confused. My cath kidston, barefoot laughing children image has evaporated. Now I see a pencil skirted me standing in my purple kitchen, wine glass in hand, children sitting at the island table learning French. Is this really ‘me’? I don’t really know….but I want it to be!!

I am so grateful to have won this prize and I feel a big responsibility to make the right decisions and spend the money wisely. If I had just been handed a £20,000 cash prize, then I probably would have bought a lot of handbags, sunglasses and shoes! Instead I have this amazing opportunity to improve my home and I just want to get it right! Help?!?

I’m going to sleep on it. I’m going to dream about family lunches and dinner parties and lots and lots of cake. If I wake up and I still love purple, then I’m going purple.

By the way, I haven’t forgotten about my easy dessert recipe…will post it as soon as I have stopped obsessing over the colour purple..!

Thanks for reading

P.P.S. In case you were wondering, Mr P says (quite wisely) the colour choice is mine! He just wants a say in the gadgets! We’ll see…. 😉
