My Blooming Great Tea Party 2014

Posted on June 21, 2014

Yesterday I held my Blooming Great Tea Party in aid of Marie Curie! As their Official Blogger for the Campaign, I feel like I have been planning and thinking about my tea party for such a long time, I can’t believe it’s all over!

Anyway, let me tell you about it!

The build up to the party began in the days before with baking, baking and more baking….

The first thing I made was a very special cake – my Chocolate and Banana Cake with Peanut Butter Frosting the cake that I won Lorraine’s Cake Club with!

I also had to make my Official Blooming Great Tea Party Cake – Buttermilk Crumb Cake with Cream Cheese Drizzle and my cake with Cafe Direct Frosted Chococcino Loaf! (As well as some Chocolate Chip Cookies, that just snuck into the picture, and some Rocky Road and Brown Sugar Shortbread that aren’t pictured here!)

I’m hugely grateful to my friends Natasha, Claudine & Elisa for baking for me too, for Lorraine Taste Off Finalist Shelley, who brought her Nanaimo Bars, for Cupcakes by Louisa for bringing a delicious Red Velvet Cake and for Peaks and Swirls who provided exquisite cupcakes! Thank you lovely ladies!

The party started at 10am, and my living room was transformed into a shopping experience, with kids’ clothes from Lollitots, ladies clothes from Tors Boutique & Jewellery from Chunkydory! That room was packed from start to finish with lots of people treating themselves! I also had my lovely mum in there taking people’s £5 entrance fee and encouraging them to enter the raffle!

In the kitchen, my brilliant husband who very aptly wore a sticker that said ‘Tea King’  made sure that everyone had hot drinks, and once again we used my husband’s grandma’s beautiful vintage tea sets.

The cakes and bakes were all laid out on the table and people ate, chatted, shopped and relaxed!

All together around 50 people attended, which I was absolutely thrilled about! I raised £426.50 and I still have more money to come in as I partnered up with my friend Rachael from Arbonne and she is donating all profits from the Tea Party day, to Marie Curie! I was also thrilled because I won a raffle prize – the Hug Box!! I am now officially (according to my son) the best Mummy ever!!!!

I would like to thank the following generous companies who, along with Hug Box provided Raffle Prizes. With a Bake With Suzy Tin & a singing lesson with me (I teach singing too) there were 20 prizes in total!! Thank you to:

Xanna’s Cupcakes, Active Creative, Rachael Lalji at Arbonne, L’oreal, Make-up & Beauty by Paula K, Chunkydory Jewellery, Tors Boutique, Lollitots, Spice Way, Millie Moo Creations, Louis Mann Butchers, Be Fruitful, Beauty Works by Hayley, Sugar Spice UK, Sew Lomax, Lisa Bea Bespoke, and Renshaw Baking.

I would also like to thank Natalie for her fabulous spray tans on the day and I would especially like to thank everyone who attended and supported my tea party!

In the meantime, an update from me…..isn’t it really annoying when someone says they’ve got something VERY exciting happening but they can’t talk about it??? Yes?? Well that’s me….sorry!!!!!!!  ðŸ˜‰

New competition coming next week and I’ll update you on my news when I can!

Oh and if you make any of my recipes for your tea party, I would LOVE to see pictures!!

Be back soon
