Afternoon Tea Week

Posted on July 20, 2015

This update is all about Afternoon Tea and who loves Afternoon Tea? Silly question eh? Who doesn’t like Afternoon Tea?

Well then you will LOVE Afternoon Tea Week! From 10th-16th August record numbers of your favourite hotels, tea rooms, restaurants and even a Routemaster bus (!!) are planning exclusive events and discounts up and down the country!

I was very privileged to be invited to the media launch of Afternoon Tea Week last week and I took along my friend Natasha.

The launch was at St Ermin’s Hotel in London which has the most beautiful lobby and fascinating history, and it even has a Bee Hotel (yes you read that right – a Bee Hotel!!)

To celebrate the launch of Afternoon Tea Week we had a champagne Afternoon Tea (of course) and I was delighted to sit with Miss Sue Flay (who I worked with on the Hotpoint Stand at BBC Good Food Show last year) and Lynn Hill the founder of The Clandestine Cake Club (who I have been eager to meet for a while!)

The four of us (including my lovely friend Natasha) enjoyed a delicious tea:

Highlights for me were the strawberry and milk chocolate scones

And the yuzu posset (delicious!)

Miss Sue Flay (real name Jo) is an Afternoon Tea Etiquette specialist, so it was very interesting to hear how we should be eating our tea….apparently scones shouldn’t be loaded with cream and jam and then just shoved into our mouths….. Oops 😉

Special mention must go to the Pink Moscato (in my magical always refilled and never empty glass) that was served with the tea. It was so gorgeously sweet without being too sweet, and I am definitely going to stock up on a bottle or five of that!!

It was a really special evening and reminded us all how lovely Afternoon Tea is! And with all of the offers available for Afternoon Tea Week, it definitely does not have to be just for a special occasion. More information on Afternoon Tea Week can be found here. (Big thank you to NudgePR for inviting me.)

In other news, last week I went to see my son in sports day (of course it rained!)

And I watched my daughters graduate from Rainbows:

We enjoyed a delicious barbecue and large jug or two of pimms with my sister:

And I’ve been eating quite a few of these:

It’s nearly the summer holidays here (we have not quite broken up yet) and so I’m trying to fit as much work in as possible before the loooooong summer holidays! 😉 Look out for another competition and a new recipe coming up!

Be back soon
